(2017) also presented a facile approach for synthesizing AAO/MIL-53-NH2 membranes by in-situ generation of MOF plates in the channels of anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) membranes, which could efficiently restrain the aggregation of MOFs in polymer.
Anodized aluminium oxide (AAO) has also been used as a metal source to synthesize CAU-10-H crystal seed [113] and to fabricate a MIL-53 membrane [119].
Moreover, using this strategy, it is also possible to grow an aluminium MOF membrane inside the channel of the AAO support and not just on the surface.
The loading inside the AAO channel can then be controlled by adjusting the reaction time.
This has been proven to fabricate various aluminium MOF membrane inside AAO channel such as [Al(OH)(1,4-NDC)] [90], NH2-MIL-53 [120], and Al2(OH)2(TCPP) [120].
